Essential workshops for providing Management and Supervision with the knowledge and skills required for checking candidates on the Right to Work in the UK and related Document Verification. This will make for safer recruitment decisions and significantly reduce the risk of negligent checking which can result in action by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).
Workshop one. Half Day practical workshop.
To cover document verification only with some elements of duties under current immigration rules.
By the end of this workshop delegates will:
- Understand the problems of identity and identity fraud.
- Know the requirements for Attributed identity / biographical identity.
- Be aware of Biometric identity – what should you know?
- Know what to look for in documentation.
- Be informed about the latest common scams to be aware of.
- Know what to do with irregularities in:
- Passports
- Driving licenses
- Birth certificates
- Supporting documents
- Official stamps
- Visas
- Know which areas to focus on for verification.
- Learn about Cross-referencing with other data.
- Understand how to proceed if inconsistencies are discovered.
- Learn how to address concerns directly with candidates – and the possible pitfalls.
- Appreciate how easy it is to miss a forged document.
- Undertake practical exercises of checking documents.
- Handle live examples of fraudulent documentation.
- Witness the comparisons of real and fake documents
This half day package is covered by one trainer –includes preparation and full course handouts. Maximum 20 delegates.
Workshop Two.
To cover the full requirements of the UK immigration legislation plus the document verification techniques as above. A full day with two presenters, maximum 12 delegates
By the end of this workshop delegates will:
- Understand who can work in the UK.
- Have an overview of the Immigration categories which allow non EEA citizens to work in the UK.
- Understand the expectations of UK Visa & Immigration.
- Understand the process required to enable an employer to gain their Statutory Excuse under immigration rules.
- Be made aware of List A and List B (the documents required to obtain the statutory excuse).
- Understand how to prepare for a UK Visa & Immigration visit – audit/enforcement.
- Understand the obligations required to prevent illegal working- what documents do you need to see and retain?
- Appreciate the consequences of getting documentation verification wrong.
- Be given a summary of the different work routes available to non-EEA nationals.
Both Workshops are very participative; there will be an opportunity for delegates to become familiar with forged/counterfeit documents by handling real examples.
